Balance
I am a Colorado-native artist working across multiple mediums, including organic wood sculpture, drawing, and painting. While each medium offers a different creative experience, they are all connected by my interest in discovery, observation, and the creative process itself.
Much of my sculpture work begins outdoors, where I search for naturally weathered roots, branches, and reclaimed wood. Rather than imposing a predetermined idea or design, I work with the character that already exists within the material, allowing its shape, grain, and history to help guide the final piece. As the process unfolds and a sculpture evolves, I often find myself imagining what the tree experienced to become what I am working with today.
Drawing has always been my way to slow down and focus on observation, while painting offers an opportunity to step away from structure and embrace a more intuitive process. Together, these disciplines allow me to explore different ways of seeing, creating, and interpreting the world around me.
Outside of art, I work in technology — a profession rooted in logic, systems, and problem-solving. Creating provides a balance to that world. It allows me to engage with uncertainty and approach ideas without needing every step mapped out in advance.
My influences come from many places: nature, music, travel, design, and the unique character found in imperfect things. Whether working with a piece of reclaimed wood, a sheet of paper, or a blank canvas, I am most interested in the process of discovery and the stories that emerge along the way.
One of the best compliments I have ever received about my artwork was hearing that it had inspired someone else to create. I love that.
